Transferring Your Domain To Someone/ Webhost

Transferring to Someone

Transferring a domain to another user is Free.

  • Make sure the person you want to transfer the domain, has a Namecheap account.
  • Login to your account
  • Click on the domain you want to transfer on the domain listing page.
  • Choose 'Push this Domain ...' option
  • Enter the destination user name and your password to authenticate the move.
  • Choose the options like if you want to push the WhoisGuard subscription, Contacts.
  • Click the submit button and the domain is instantaneously transferred to the other user.

Transferring to a Webhost

When a webhost requests the domain be transferred to them, you don't need to initiate a real domain transfer. It is a matter of just pointing the Domain Name Server (DNS) to theirs.

  • Login to your account
  • Click on the domain you want to transfer on the domain listing page.
  • Enter the nameservers provided by the webhost. Atleast two nameservers are recommended.
  • Save Changes. The update will take atlease 24 hours to take effect.
  • Please note that email forwarding, URL forwarding and other services that are dependent on our nameservers being used will no longer work.
